Israeli Forces Conduct New Incursion in Syria

(MENAFN) The Israeli military launched a new operation on Monday targeting the northern countryside of Quneitra in southern Syria, marking the latest breach of the country’s sovereignty.

A contingent of five Israeli military vehicles moved toward the village of al-Samadaniyah al-Sharqiyah before advancing in the direction of Tal Kroom Jaba, a news agency reported.

This action follows a similar operation on Sunday, when Israeli troops entered the area between the town of Jubata al-Khashab and the villages of Ofania and Ain Al-Bayda in the northern countryside.

Neither the Israeli army nor Syrian authorities immediately commented on the developments.
Israeli incursions in Quneitra have surged recently, with local residents reporting intrusions into farmland, destruction of hundreds of acres of forests, detentions of civilians, and the installation of military checkpoints.

According to government figures, the Israeli military has conducted over 1,000 airstrikes on Syria and carried out more than 400 cross-border operations into southern provinces since December 2024.

Following the collapse of the Bashar al-Assad regime in late 2024, Israel expanded its control over the Syrian Golan Heights, seizing the demilitarized buffer zone in a move that violated the 1974 Disengagement Agreement with Syria.
